UMB recently earned the honor of being named one of Forbes “World’s Best Banks‡“ for their U.S. category. Across the globe, banks were rated on overall recommendation and satisfaction, as well as five additional areas: trust, terms and conditions, customer services, digital services, and financial advice. While I’m pleased to share UMB ranked No. 33 on the U.S. list, more importantly, I’d like to reflect on what this means for not just our company, but for our associates, shareholders and the communities we serve.
It’s great to hold a spot on this prestigious list, but it’s what’s behind the ranking that really matters. The five ranked areas are ones UMB intentionally focuses on to ensure we’re providing an outstanding experience.
However, our approach is what truly sets us apart—it’s getting to know each of our clients and helping provide honest counsel, strategic advice and steadfast partnership in both the good and the tough times. Our clients know they can rely on us to not just answer their questions, but to help provide solutions based on what they want to accomplish for the short- and long-term.
As such, the three categories within this ranking that stand out to me are trust, customer service and financial advice. These are the areas I believe make UMB different from other financial institutions. Here’s why.
