We visited Thermo King West, an authorized sales, service and parts dealership of Thermo King, the founding company of the transport refrigeration unit, in Tolleson, Arizona to talk with Bill Riley, CEO, and Jeff Riley, president, about the importance of having a steadfast financial partner while growing their business.

A UMB client since 2004, Thermo King West is a team of dedicated sales and parts experts who are authorized to service Thermo King transport temperature control systems for trucks, trailers, buses and rail cars. Thermo King West also supports Thermo King’s auxiliary power units, which dramatically reduce engine idling.

Relationship-based banking

Our close-knit relationship with Bill and Jeff allows us to be proactive and think outside of the box while helping them meet and exceed their goals.

As a banker, one of the most exciting things we can be a part of is our client’s business progression, and it’s been amazing to witness their growth first-hand for more than 18 years.

“Every step along the way, UMB has been there with us, whether we’re growing our customer base, our revenue, our facilities,” said Jeff Riley, CEO of Thermo King West. “With that additional capacity comes the ability to hire more employees and offer more services.”

As a relationship-based business, we focus first on creating loyalty and trust with each client. Our associates go above and beyond providing basic services by finding and creating innovative opportunities to help clients advance and grow, providing comprehensive solutions to achieve current and future goals.

To best accomplish this, our objective is to create comprehensive banking relationships with each client, which gives us a full view of what they want to achieve.

We’ve been fortunate to advise and assist Thermo King in this way for many years—from making large buys, to fulfilling inventory needs and everything in between, our job is to ensure we’re proactively serving Bill and Jeff to anticipate and execute needs for the short- and long-term success of their business.

“UMB has the feel of a community bank, but the fire power of a big bank,” said Bill. “When doing business, we value having access to senior leadership and credit decision makers and UMB allows us to do just that. They consistently show us they’re in it for the total good of our business.”
